Spray Polyurethane Foam
Heatlok Soya

Take the green path... with Girbec and Heatlok Soya

Girbec uses products that comply with the industry's highest available standards to provide you with the best thermal protection... and exceed expectations.

Accordingly, we have chosen to work with Heatlok Soya's spray polyurethane foam to insulate building envelopes. Its benefits, in terms of health, comfort, durability, investment protection and energy savings, make it a judicious choice on many levels.

Heatlok Soya is produced by Demilec, the first Canadian manufacturer to meet the requirements of the Montreal Protocol. This agreement aims for the elimination of total global emissions of ozone depleting substances (ODS). Heatlok Soya contains zero ozone depletion substances (ZeroODS). Indeed, it is likely to become, by regulation, the new international industry standard. Demilec's head office, research center and Canadian production plant are located in Boisbriand, Quebec. A second plant is established in Arlington, Texas.

Made from recycled plastics and renewable vegetable oils, this ecological material provides superior insulation that not only meets the requirements of both the National Building Code of Canada (NBC) and the Quebec Construction code, but also exceeds the CAN/ULC S705.1 Canadian quality standard. Heatlok Soya is the only insulating material that offers perfect continuity and 100% adhesion to the support, with no need for joints, mountings or tape.

Moreover, a single application provides the three essential features of complete building envelope protection:

  • Insulation material with long-term high thermal resistance: RSI 1.05/25 mm R6/inch;
  • Air barrier material 150 times more efficient than that required by the National Building Code of Canada (NBC) - with 1 inch of product;
  • Vapour barrier (with application of 1 ½ inch).

The use of a single product to insulate your building's envelope allows you to significantly reduce the costs associated with construction and energy consumption, which, in the long run, makes it a sound investment.

Heatlok Soya is the best possible thermal insulation to protect your health, our planet and your investment.

Environmentally friendly insulation - CMHC research (Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation)

The CMHC conducted a research evaluating the performance of spray polyurethane foam in terms of its efficiency and adhesion durability on different types of foundation walls (poured concrete and stonework) and on the quality of the foam 5 or more years after insulation. Based on the homes evaluated, this research confirmed that sprayed polyurethane behaves very well in the medium and long term, in terms of its adhesion to foundation walls and other adjacent materials, and that it retains its cellular structure and homogeneity.
